EID TAGS AND SCANNERS The tags supplied are compatible with ISO 11784 and 11785 (International Standards for Electronic Livestock ID).
 

Retention

The tags are supplied with a male button tag, which is the same diameter as the female electronic tag – the larger the tag, the greater the risk the tag will catch on something.  Therefore the risk of loss rate will increase with the tag size.

A button tag (such as the EID tag) will have a loss rate of less than 0.1%. (A larger panel tag could be as high as 3%).  Other factors influencing retention are:

*           Correct application and location in the ear
*           Conditions of farm and grazing environment

An ‘applicator’ for fitting of the tags, is available. 

READERS/SCANNERS

A ‘handheld reader’ is available.  Compatible with RuddProducts (Models 610 and 810) and other brands of EID capable weighing and data collectors

Panel Readers (GGL) are available.  These are mounted in the side of a cattle/sheep race.  The panel reader can plug directly into the RuddScale Model 700 or Model 800 indicator; or operate on its own (memory of 20 000 id’s).  This device allows you to automate your operations – i.e. as the animal enters the race, it will automatically be scanned.  The ID number appears on the scale indicator, and the weight is automatically captured, then the animal leaves the crush/crate. Since the panel has its own memory it can operate without the scale.  Information is uploaded to your PC via ‘My Scale Pro’ software supplied with both the scale and the GGL panel reader.
